Parent Portal

You shouldn't have to sit next to your kid every time they use Boop. But you should always know what happened. The Parent Portal gives you full visibility into every session — what they worked on, how long they were on, and exactly what was said.

PIN-protected. The Parent Portal is locked behind a 4-digit PIN that you set on first launch. Your child can't access it, reset it, or see what's inside. Three wrong attempts triggers a 30-second lockout.

Right-click. Enter PIN. That's it.

The Parent Portal lives in your system tray — the little icons at the bottom-right of your screen (Windows) or top-right menu bar (Mac). It's always one click away, never in your child's view.

1

Right-click the Boop icon in your system tray

Boop sits quietly in the background when your kid is using it. Right-click the tray icon to see the parent menu.

2

Select "Parent Portal"

A separate window opens — completely independent from what your child sees. They won't know you're looking.

3

Enter your 4-digit PIN

Set on first launch, only you know it. Three wrong attempts locks out for 30 seconds to prevent guessing.

Full visibility — every session, every message

Dashboard, screen time controls, conversation logs with TEKS tags, and parental controls. All in one window.

Everything. Every session. Every word.

Not a summary, not a report card — the actual conversation. Every message between your child and Boop is logged with timestamps, subject tags, and the specific TEKS standard being worked on.

📊 Real-Time Dashboard

See if Boop is active right now, how long they've been on, what subject they're working on, and how many lollipops they've earned today.

🏷️ TEKS Tags

Every math problem, reading passage, and science question is tagged with the specific Texas standard it maps to. You can see exactly what curriculum is being covered.

TEKS 3.4(K) • STAAR-aligned

Set the boundaries. Boop enforces them.

You decide how much screen time, when bedtime is, and what your child can access. Boop handles the enforcement — no arguments, no "five more minutes." When time's up, Boop gently winds down and says goodnight.

⏱️ Daily Screen Time Limit

Set anywhere from 30 minutes to 8 hours in 30-minute increments. A progress bar turns yellow at 75% and red at 90%. When it hits 100%, Boop winds down the session.

🌙 Bedtime Enforcement

Set a bedtime and wake time. Boop automatically locks at bedtime and unlocks in the morning. No negotiation — "Boop says it's bedtime" ends the debate.

📷 Camera Toggle

Turn the webcam on or off entirely. When off, "look at this" and "scan me" commands are disabled. Your child is told "camera is turned off right now."

🔒 Content Filter

Standard keeps conversations age-appropriate and on-topic. Strict further limits what subjects Boop will discuss. Both prevent off-curriculum tangents.

🚫 Blocked Apps

Prevent Boop from launching specific apps by voice. If you don't want your kid saying "open YouTube" through Boop, add it to the block list.

⏰ Homework Extension

One-tap "+30 min" button for when your kid is in the middle of an assignment and the timer is about to run out. Doesn't change the daily limit — just extends tonight.

All settings persist. Your configuration is saved locally at ~/.boop/boop_parent_settings.json. No cloud account needed, no data leaves your computer, no subscription. Set it once and it stays until you change it.

Stored locally. Yours completely.

Every conversation log, every setting, every lollipop count is stored on your computer in plain JSON files. Nothing is uploaded to the cloud. Nothing is shared with us or anyone else.
